14” GAS-FIRED BILLET HEATING PLANT FOR COPPER AND COPPER ALLOYS

23-06-2020

Winter 2019: COIM performed the Final Commissioning of its revolutionary “trays type” gas-fired billet heating plant.

This exclusive COIM technology was firstly introduced by COIM in 2015 in Mueller (USA), for the extrusion of copper (tubes). With this last, new step, the same technology was improved and completed to be applied also to special alloys like CuNi, CuCrZr and other special alloys.

KME Germany, long term and loyal customer, entrusted to COIM the big challenge to use only gas heating to bring copper alloys up to 1000°C, bypassing the expensive induction technology, without paying the maintenance problems of the “classic” gas heating with these alloys. “Trays” technology is the innovative answer of COIM to the market requests!

The equipment is fully equipped with one automatic billet vertical storage, two manipulators and one very high performing “descaling unit” to clean the hot billet from the surface oxide.

COIM Data Manager Software runs the entire system with tracking of billets, orders and heating parameters.
